Adam - The geocaching Guy, will be running a free workshop – Introduction To Geocaching
Geocaching is fun for all the family and can often turn a “boring” walk into a exciting mini adventure for youngsters.
Geocaching can be best described as a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices and is a great way to get active and get out exploring the world around you and is easily accessible to people of all ages, ability and fitness.
Participants navigate to a specific set of coordinates and then attempt to find the cleverly hidden containers around the world.
This workshop will take place outside and will introduce the participant to the world of Geocaching. The workshop will cover the use of the official smartphone geocaching app and participants are required to have a geocaching account (free) already set up and have the geocaching app installed on their smartphone prior to attending the workshop.
Topics covered in this workshop will include:
Geocaching etiquette – the do’s and dont’s
Introduction to the geocaching website
Introduction to the geocaching app
How to find nearby geocaches using the app
Logging your finds & commenting
Explanation of travelbugs and geocoins
Using a standalone GPS device for geocaching
Using a map and compass to geocache
Time: 10.00am to 12.00pm

Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Participants are required to bring suitable outdoor clothing for the conditions along with suitable footwear. Location is not wheelchair friendly.
